Memory Foam Mattresses.

Memory foam has unique temperature-sensing particles that float and sink according to a person's weight and body temperature, supporting all areas of the body evenly. This allows a memory foam mattress to adjust its shape based on the posture and pressure points of the sleeping person to provide suitable support and reduce damage caused by pressure. It helps significantly in protecting the spine, and can provide a significant aid in the treatment of back troubles and other osteopathic ailments. Memory foam relieves partial pressure coming from the weight of the sleeping person. It encourages better blood circulation, reduces pressure on nerves and reduces muscle numbness, thus reducing movement during sleep. Supersleeping memory foam mattresses are layered with our cotton velour cover, forming a comfortably cushioned memory foam mattress that reduces pressure and protects you spine. Vacuum packing is used to fit the memory foam mattress into a small package that will conveniently fit into the back of a car for ease of transport.

  • BS7177 outer CVC velour cover with knitted inner.
  • 3" of memory foam 64kg/m3.
  • 7" MDI foam 32kg/m3.

Ergonometric Comparison.

Comparison on a conventional mattress and a Supersleeping memory foam mattress.

The following test was completed by using an advanced pressure analysing system. It proved the pressure relieving effectiveness of a memory foam by spreading a measuring sheet over a mattress. The highly accurate sensors can determine the stress and pressure between the test subject and the mattress over a few square inches to build up an image of pressure points.

Sprung mattress pressure spread diagram
Diagram A
Diagram A shows the pressure points when a person sleeps on a conventional sprung mattress. Red and purple colours indicate high pressure points. This results in discomfort leading to restless movement around 80-100 times throughout the night due to blood and oxygen occlusion.

Diagram B

Diagram B shows the result of sleeping on a memory foam mattress. The red and purple colours on Diagram A have changed to green and yellow colours indicating low pressure levels. The user is in a stress free sleeping environment and this effectively minimizes the tossing and turning during sleep.

International Standard for non-flammability

All our materials are carefully selected and professionally manufactured to meet UK standards.

In addition, with the non-flammability test facility constructed by SGS, we can test and assure all our products meet any international standards for non-flammability.

Categories of non-ignition divide into:
  • United Kingdom BS5202 Standard Series
  • United Kingdom BS7176 Standard Series
  • United Kingdom BS7177 Standard Series

Non-flammable standards

Flammability Testing

Stage One:

A sample of ordinary foam (left) and a sample of memory foam (right) are placed on a testing frame. Both samples then have a beaker of flammable liquid placed in their centres.

  Memory foam flammability test

Stage Two:

The flammable liquid is ignited and begins to burn. It is not long before the flames ignite the ordinary foam (left) and it begins to burn as well.

  burning foam and memory foam

Stage Three:

The combustion comes to a natural end and the results are clear. The ordinary foam quickly ignited and completely burnt until there was only ashes left. However the memory foam, although damaged by the heat, did not ignite and the fire was contained.

  Non-flammable memory foam

Benefits of a memory foam mattress.

  • Temperature responsive properties relax tense muscles and promote pressure relief by conforming to the human body's shape and weight.
  • Provides excellent neck and spine protection and natural alignment as it eliminates the possible damage caused by body pressure.
  • Encourages better blood circulation, avoiding muscles soreness caused by the compression of nerves.

Memory Foam Mattress Care.

Most memory foam mattresses are compressed and then packaged, this significantly helps with logistics but the drawback is the mattress will remember its packaged state for a few days. Because of this, ideally the mattress should be unpacked and left for three to four days to allow it to expand to its full size before being slept on.

Once a memory foam mattress has been removed from the compressed packaging it will take approximately three hours to reach 80% of its full size; the mattress can be slept on after this period but this may delay the mattress reaching 100% of its size, sometimes taking up to four weeks.

Memory foam does not have any long term care requirements, because it is not porous like a sprung mattress, it will not absorb liquids and small particles. This prevents a build up of skin particles that would otherwise attract unwanted parasites. The cover is machine washable, and an additional cover can be purchased for convenience.

All Supersleeping memory foam products come with a five year pro rata guarantee.
